The Group Head of Labs at FutureLife will be responsible for overseeing the operations of IVF laboratories across our clinics in Europe, driving improvements in processes and outcomes while ensuring that our high
standards of care are maintained or surpassed. This individual will focus on implementing best practices, enhancing the performance of our labs through data-driven decision-making, and fostering collaboration between local teams, particularly our embryologist’s community. Frequent travel will be required, as the Group Head of Labs must be present in clinics, leading through others and engaging closely with key stakeholders.
This role is a full-time executive position reporting directly to the Group CEO and will be a member of FutureLife’s Global Medical Advisory Board.
Key Responsibilities
Clinic Presence and Team Leadership:
- Ensure a strong presence in the clinics, spending time on-site to observe, engage, and lead by example. Frequent travel across clinics in Europe is required.
- Lead through others by fostering a culture of collaboration with medical directors, embryologists, and lab staff, making them integral to the decision-making process and encouraging their input on potential improvements.
Data-Driven Decision Making and KPI Tracking:
- Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure lab performance and continuously improve outcomes. Ensure that all decisions are grounded in data, using analytics to monitor progress and identify areas for improvement.
- Work with local teams to regularly review these metrics and guide them in using this data to drive improvements in both operational efficiency and clinical outcomes.
Educational Leadership:
- Play a key role in FutureLife’s commitment to ongoing education by leading initiatives to train and develop embryologists, and lab personnel. Ensure that all staff are equipped with the latest knowledge, techniques, and tools necessary for success.
- Develop and oversee educational programs designed to elevate the skills and knowledge of the lab teams, ensuring continuous professional growth.
Operational Excellence and Continuous Improvement:
- Ensure that all labs are operating at optimal efficiency, with a focus on continuous improvement rather than rigid standardization. Encourage flexibility and adaptation where needed, always prioritizing what works best for individual clinics.- Share success stories and best practices between clinics to promote a culture of learning and collaboration across the group.
Global Medical Advisory Board Participation:
- As a member of the Global Medical Advisory Board, provide strategic input on medical and laboratory-related initiatives across the group, contributing to the overall direction of FutureLife’s clinical strategy.
Strategic Role in Expansion:
- Support FutureLife’s expansion efforts by ensuring that newly acquired clinics quickly adopt best practices and align with the group’s overall operational and clinical standards.
- Play an integral role in integrating new clinics, working closely with local teams to implement improvements while maintaining high standards of care.
Gametes Bank
- Support the development and expansion of our own Gametes Bank, being the Exec member responsible for this initiative.
Education & Professional Qualification
- Advanced degree in life sciences, embryology, or a related field.
Knowledge/Skills/Experience
- Experience: A minimum of 10 years of experience in laboratory management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within the fertility/IVF sector. Strong experience in leading through others and fostering collaboration within multi-site operations.
- Operational Expertise: Proven ability to improve lab processes by sharing best practices and driving performance improvements in a collaborative way.
- Leadership: Exceptional leadership skills, with a proven ability to engage and motivate lab teams, medical directors, and embryologists, making them part of the change process.
- Analytical Mindset: Strong data analysis skills, with a demonstrated ability to use KPIs to inform decision-making and improve lab outcomes.
- Educational Leadership: A passion for developing talent and leading educational initiatives to ensure that lab personnel are continually improving their skills and knowledge.
- Industry Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of IVF laboratory practices, regulatory requirements, and quality standards across Europe.
- Flexibility and Travel: Willingness to travel frequently and spend the majority of time in clinics to ensure active leadership and presence.
