The Prague-based ISCARE clinic is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. Originally founded as a specialized infertility treatment center, it has grown into one of the most significant private healthcare facilities in the Czech Republic. Today, the clinic provides care across 14 specialized fields, performing over 8,000 surgeries annually. Thanks to assisted reproduction methods, ISCARE’s doctors have helped bring more than 12,000 children into the world. The clinic’s IBD Center is the largest in the Czech Republic, improving the lives of over 5,000 patients with inflammatory bowel diseases, 2,600 of whom receive innovative biological treatment.

The Story of ISCARE: How a Leader in Modern Medicine Was Born

In 1992, Gyncentrum opened in the Czech Republic as the first private facility of its kind in the field of gynecology. Two years later, in 1994, ISCARE Clinic was established as a subsidiary of Gyncentrum, specializing in assisted reproduction. Both clinics initially operated from a picturesque chateau in Hloubětín. In its early years, the clinic formed a collaboration with leading Israeli specialists, world leaders in the field of assisted reproduction. This partnership included training for doctors in Tel Aviv, where they were inspired by the latest IVF methods and procedures. This experience played a key role in the clinic’s rapid development and success in the following years.

Assisted reproduction has advanced tremendously over the past 30 years. Thanks to progress in genetic testing, we can now better select embryos with the highest chance of successful implantation. Modern embryo culture technologies and improved gamete freezing methods allow for greater flexibility in family planning. At the same time, advancements in treatment and improved accessibility are reducing the financial burden of IVF, making it available to a wider range of patients,” says MUDr. Jan Lacheta, Head of Reproductive Medicine at ISCARE. “It is incredibly rewarding for us to see the pure joy in the eyes of parents we have helped fulfill their dream of having a family.

The First Relocation and a New IBD Center

After several years, in 2005, a significant step was taken when ISCARE Clinic moved to more modern facilities in the Lighthouse Towers in Holešovice. This move not only allowed for an expansion of operations but also led, two years later, to the creation of the key Clinical and Research Center for Inflammatory Bowel Diseases (IBD) under the leadership of Professor Milan Lukáš.

Today, the IBD Center manages over 5,000 patients with Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis from across the Czech Republic. A team of 14 doctors and 30 nurses cares forthese patients. In addition to administering biological treatment, the center also offers innovative therapeutic techniques through endoscopic treatment and a comprehensive monitoring program to prevent dysplasia and colorectal cancer in high-risk IBD patients. A virtual clinic is also available, providing telemedicine-based patient monitoring. The facility includes three ultrasound examination rooms offering expert sonographic diagnostics and monitoring programs for IBD patients.

In recent decades, the treatment of inflammatory bowel diseases has progressed significantly. Thanks to biological and innovative therapies, we can now offer patients more effective and targeted treatment approaches. Diagnostic and monitoring capabilities have also expanded, allowing for more personalized therapy tailored to individual patient needs,” says Professor Milan Lukáš, Head of ISCARE’s IBD Clinic.

Current Situation

In 2014, ISCARE was acquired by the investment group FutureLife Group, and six years later, in 2020, the clinic moved to a new building on Českomoravská Street in Prague 9, which now offers patients a modern environment and access to the latest treatment methods and technologies. The ISCARE Clinical Center is a truly unique healthcare facility in the Czech Republic, as well as for the FutureLife group itself, which manages more than 40 clinics across Europe, primarily in the field of IVF. “Its complexity benefits the diversification of the portfolio of healthcare services we provide, but the greatest benefit is for the patients. We offer them a range of integrated healthcare services literally under one roof, and at a high standard. Even though we are a private healthcare facility, more than 90 percent of our services are provided under public health insurance, making our care accessible to everyone,” said Tomáš Juříček, CEO of ISCARE Clinic.

Comprehensive Care Under One Roof

Today, ISCARE offers a wide range of healthcare services, including assisted reproduction, gastroenterology for inflammatory bowel diseases, gynecology, outpatient surgery, plastic surgery, orthopedics, andrology, urology, sexology, vascular surgery, rheumatology, and more.

The clinic is dedicated to providing top-quality care, individualized attention, and treatment based on the latest technologies and methods. ISCARE focuses on comprehensive healthcare, covering everything from specialized examinations and treatment to preoperative consultations, hospitalization, and post-operative rehabilitation—all in one place.
